A Guide To Resin Driveways

Resin driveway

Resin driveways have become increasingly popular in recent years. At Vision Drives & Patios, we offer resin bound driveways, which are comprised of a resin and aggregate mixture. This is a durable driveway material that offers many benefits. Find out everything you need to know in the following guide.

Resin Bound Drives Vs. Resin Bonded Drives

There are two quite different ways to install resin driveways. We specialise in resin bound, because it’s superior to resin bonded in a few ways.

Resin bonded drives are non-permeable, meaning they can pool with water and even affect nearby waterways. This is because the driveway is made by layering aggregates over resin, whereas resin bound driveways are formed of a mixture. Resin bonded drives tend to have stones that appear loose on top, where the aggregate hasn’t been able to make contact with the resin. This gives it an appearance quite similar to a gravel driveway.

The Benefits Of Resin Driveways

All resin driveways should be grippy, durable and attractive. There’s a range of different aggregates you can choose from to achieve any finish you like. You can create patterns, go for some interesting colours and have any shape that you like.

As well as that, resin is hard wearing and lasts for a long time. You can expect upwards of 25 years out of your driveway before it needs replacing. Over time, it may develop cracks. These are easily fixed by filling in the crack with an appropriate substance.

Do You Need Planning Permission?

For resin bound drives, you shouldn’t need to get planning permission. This is because its drainage abilities are SUDS compliant, unlike resin bonded installations. When you choose to have a resin bound drive installed, you benefit from a quick and easy process that doesn’t require too much paperwork!
